“We must establish our identity in terms of research in information/communications and broadcasting and our status as a research institute specializing in future-our oriented information and communications policies.”

- Conduct research on digital transformation and innovation measures in order to strengthen policy efficiency in the information/communications and broadcasting sector;
- Propose innovative technologies and service models to improve the quality and accessibility of digital government services; and
- Improve global competitiveness and strengthen ICT policy cooperation networks.

Kyoung-Yul Bae took office as the 14th President of the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) on August 7. The new president held an inauguration ceremony at the KISDI Conference Room at 10 AM earlier today and took the first step towards his three-year term.

At the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Bae emphasized ▲the need to conduct research on digital transformation and innovation measures to strengthen policy efficiency in the information/communications and broadcasting sector; ▲the need to conduct research on innovative technologies and service models to improve the quality and accessibility of digital government services; and ▲the need to improve global competitiveness and strengthen ICT policy cooperation networks.

Dr. Bae urged KIDSI, as Korea’s leading specialized research institute in the information/communication and broadcasting sector, to establish itself as a pivotal institution necessary for Korea to become the world's top ICT powerhouse. He also emphasized that KISDI must reform itself to become an organization that can forecast the future in line with the digital transformation of the whole society and lead the new era of intelligent information.

To this end, he revealed the main directions of KISDI’s operations as follows: supporting the establishment of customer-centered digital government services and establishing its institutional status as an advanced information and communication research institution; improving business processes through digital transformation and innovation and building a system for accumulating and disseminating knowledge information; and efficiently supporting the early establishment of information and communication policies for the digital platform government and establishing a support system for the successful implementation of the new “Growth 4.0” strategy.

Dr. Bae also announced the management innovation plan for establishing an institutional management system that can maximize the efficiency and timeliness of KISDI as an organization specializing in information and communication policy research. The plan includes “building a customer-centered management system, improving management transparency and establishing an ethical management system, and improving organizational competitiveness by revolutionizing the performance-centered organizational culture and building a performance management system to improve management performance.

In particular, he suggested policies for responding to global trends in the information/communication and broadcasting sector and urged all employees to work with him in his endeavors to equip KISDI with international competitiveness, such as by entering ITU.
