Seong Wook-je, head of the Department of Broadcasting Regulation Research of KISDI, was appointed as a member of the Animation Promotion Committee on Thursday, September 10.

 

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism formed the first “Animation Promotion Committee” to play an advisory role on major matters such as the government's basic plan for promotion of the animation industry in accordance with The Act on Promotion of the Animation Industry (enforced on June 4, 2020), and appointed the first committee members.

 

The term of the committee members is two years (from Sep 10, 2020 to Sep 9, 2022), and the chairman and vice-chairman were elected at the committee meeting.

 

The committee is composed of 16 members including: Seong Wook-je, Head of the Department of Broadcasting Regulation Research of KISDI; Kang Moon-ju, CEO of Enpop; Kim Myung-sook, CEO of CAFÉ DE DM; Kim Tak-hun, Professor at Chung-Ang University Graduate School of Advanced Imaging; Ryu Soo-Hwan, CEO of Studio VANDAL; Yeom Joon-young, Assistant Professor of Culture and Art Design Convergence, Hanseo University; Lawyer Lee So-rim; Jang Wook-jin, Director of Company K Partners; ▲ Jeong Guk-po, CEO of G&G Entertainment; Jo Jung-seong, Professor of the Animation School, Chungkang College of Cultural Industries; Choi Seong-wook, Vice-Chairman of the Korean Animation Artists Association; Ha Na-rae, Director of Epic Story Media; Han Byeong-ah, Vice-Chairman of the Korea Independent Animation Filmmakers Association (Director and film director of Ashubia Animation Productions); Han Chang-wan, Professor of Cartoon Animation Tech Major, Sejong University; Hong Seong-ho, President of LOCUS; and Hwang Hye-rim, Director of Meta-Play (listed in alphabetical order).

 

A policy-related official of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, “As the Animation Promotion Committee is the first ever policy advisory body in the animation industry, we expect to post meaningful results by working closely with the field.”
