The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Kwon Ho-yeol) held the “8th Korean Media Panel Conference” on September 25 at the L Tower in Yangjae-dong.

The Korea Media Panel Conference is the eighth conference to provide raw data from the Korean Media Panel Survey, which began in 2010, to related academics, research institutions, industries and policy authorities, and to share the research results.

The conference dealt with topics deeply related to media use, such as New Media, New Generation Media Services, Privacy Concerns and Gap Media, Invitation to Daily Life, and Statistical Approaches to Media Data Analysis.

The Korea Media Panel Survey is a nationally approved statistical survey conducted to understand how Korean households and individuals' media consumption changes in the mid- to long-term amid the rapidly changing media environment. First conducted in 2010, the eleventh Korea Media Panel Survey was completed earlier this year. The data accumulated by the only media panel survey in Korea to investigate changes in media consumption by the same households and individuals are used as valuable research data for domestic and foreign researchers studying broadcasting and media.

During this conference, fifteen papers were presented in total, including twelve general papers and three awarded papers of graduate students. Researchers in various fields, such as press informatics, economics, business administration, and statistics, participated in the presentation and presented the results of their empirical research of various perspectives and topics in the media field.

The presentations were divided into five sessions, including New Media, New Generation Media Services, Privacy Concerns and Gap Media, Invitation to Daily Life, Statistical Approaches to Media Data Analysis, and Outstanding Papers by Graduate Students.

For reference, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the general public can join this event via an online live broadcast, which will available for repeated viewings on the KISDI YouTube channel.
