The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Kwon Ho-yeol) signed a business agreement with the Chungbuk Research Institute (CRI) and the Chungbuk Innovation Institute of Science & Technology (CBIST) on July 10 at the Chungbuk Research Institute to promote ICT policy research in the Chungbuk region and nationwide.
The CRI is conducting research to identify the future policy agenda of Chungcheongbuk-do, such as establishing mid- and long-term development plans in the Chungbuk region, and improving local administrative systems, and to analyze and resolve policy and social issues for regional development.
The CBIST serves as a hub for intensive development of the ICT industry and R&D-based science and technology, and is conducting support projects in the fields of technology development, marketing, and talent development for SMEs and startups in the province, as well as operating the Chungbuk Science and Technology Forum and promoting local science research complexes.
This agreement addresses, among other things, the revitalization of information and communication research in Chungcheongbuk-do, the revitalization of research related to ICT and broadcasting and communication, and exchanges of research personnel and technology and information.
KISDI President Kwon Ho-yeol said, “Recently, not only state-led research but also ICT research led by local governments has become very important. Therefore, this agreement will be the first step in revitalizing the local ICT industry through the convergence of the capabilities of KISDI, CRI, and CBIST.”
