Kim Gyeong-hun, head of Center for AI Strategy, ICT Strategy Research Center at KISDI, will participate as a member of the Expert Group of the “Global Partnership on AI” (GPAI), officially founded on June 15 of this year.

 

The GPAI is an international, multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at dealing with various AI-related issues based on human rights, inclusion, diversity, innovation, and economic growth. It was launched by fifteen founding members including Korea, France, Canada, Australia, Germany, the United States, Japan, the EU, and New Zealand.

 

The founding members of the GPAI issued a joint declaration celebrating the founding of the initiative, which aims to support the development and use of responsible and human-centered artificial intelligence that respects human rights, fundamental freedoms, and democratic values.

 

To achieve these goals, the GPAI plans to run an expert group on the issues of 1) responsible artificial intelligence, 2) data governance, 3) future jobs, and 4) innovation and commercialization, with experts from diverse fields including industry, civil society, government agencies, and academia.

 

In Korea, Kim Gyeong-hun, head of the Center for AI Strategy at KISDI, Professor Oh Hye-yeon (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), Vice-President Oh Seong-tak (National Information Society Agency), research fellow Park Seong-won (National Assembly Futures Institute), and Park Myung-soon, head of the AI business unit (SK) will participate as members of each expert group. Kim Gyeong-hun, head of the Center for AI Strategy at KISDI, will serve a member of the expert group for “Innovation and Commercialization.”
