On July 1 (Monday) at 10am, the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Kim Dae-hui) held the kick-off meeting and expert seminar for ‘Mongolia’s CERT Deployment Policy Consulting by Invitation’ at the small conference room on the 4th floor of the KISDI office in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do Province.

The invitation consulting meeting lasted from June 30 (Sunday) to July 6 (Saturday), 2019. The Mongolian delegation to the meeting included Mr. Battsengel Sodnom from the Communications and Information Technology Authority (CITA) and five other civil servants who work in the field of information security. During the consulting period, the Mongolian delegation visited related organizations to observe the state of the information security and ICT industry in South Korea. The detailed consulting program also included seminars designed to share our experience and know-how with the visitors, during which they sought advice on information security and policies for deploying CERT.

At the start of the kick-off meeting, Director Goh Sang-won of the Department of International Cooperation Research welcomed the Mongolian delegation and said that he hoped the policy consulting program would enhance understanding of information security in both countries and serve as an opportunity to discuss further cooperation in the future.
During the consulting period, the Mongolian delegation will visit various information security and ICT related organizations, such as the National Information Resources Service (NIRS), ETRI, the National Police Agency Cyber Bureau, SK T.um, the Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM), Seoul Women’s University, AhnLab, the K-ICT Device Lab, the IoT Information Protection Cluster, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the Global Knowledge Exchange & Development (GKED) Center, and Korea University, and take part in seminars at each of these institutions. During the invitational consulting program, the Mongolian delegation will be able to learn more about South Korea’s information security and CERT policies, tour technology sites and glean our know-how, and also discuss important issues. KISDI plans to hold a final workshop in Mongolia as the second leg of the consulting program, where it will provide answers to the issues raised by the delegation during their Seoul visit. Using a structured approach, KISDI will deliver the right recommendations for Mongolia’s CERT deployment.
