On April 9 (Tuesday) at 3pm, the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Kim Dae-hui) held a meeting with representatives from AMRO (ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office) in the mid-sized conference room on the 2nd floor of the KISDI office in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do Province. The meeting was arranged at the request of AMRO, whose delegation comprised six individuals from the South Korean office including Sumio Ishikawa, the team leader.
In welcoming the delegation, President Kim Dae-hui said he hoped the meeting would serve as an opportunity to broaden AMRO’s understanding of South Korea’s ICT industry and discuss ways of collaborating.
Associate Research Fellow Goh Dong-hwan of the Department of ICT Statistics Research, Director Kang Jun-mo of the Digital Society Institution Group in the Department of ICT Strategy Research, and Research Fellow Kim Seong-ok of the Department of ICT Strategy Research gave talks on the state of South Korea’s ICT industry, the transformation of the country’s manufacturing industry, and the South Korean startup scene, respectively. In the Q&A session that followed, the AMRO representatives were most curious to discover how South Korea’s ICT industry had become so competitive. KISDI researchers answered all the questions using specific cases.
