Officials of the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications
are having a conversation with President Lee. |
Officials of the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications visited
KISDI on October, 2004.
Antti Kohtala, Director of Communication Networks and Competition and
Tatu Tuominen, Senior Research Officer in Telecommunications had a conversation
with KISDI President John H. Lee on mobile services of Korea and Finland
and the overall IT industry.
At the following meeting, Dr. Chong Hoon Park, Dr. Bumjin Jang, and Dr.
Jonghwa Lee exchanged opinions with the Finnish officials about the IT
industry of Korea and Finland, KISDI's status and role, EU's IT policy,
and how to promote bilateral cooperation between Korea and Finland.

The Finnish officials showed great interest in Korea's broadband policy
and its success factors, which were addressed by Dr. Jonghwa Lee. In his
presentation, Dr. Lee said that 24 out of 100 people have access to broadband
internet in Korea. He also analyzed factors to creating supply, demand,
government policy, and market environment and introduced future market
development strategies.
Director Kohtala said, "I was very impressed by Korea's high broadband
network penetration rate and rapid growth of the IT industry and infrastructure
building. Korean government's effective IT policy sets a good example
for Finland."
