On August 31, 2004 President Tran Minh Tien of the National Institute
of Post and Telematics Strategy and officials of the Ministry of Posts
and Telematics visited KISDI. The latest visit was part of Vietnamese
officials' training in Korea for the "Vietnamese ICT Legislation
Project," which was launched on September 7, 2004. KISDI and the
NIPTS signed a memorandum of understanding to promote IT policy and research
cooperation last year.

KISDI President John H. Lee and researchers welcomed the Vietnamese delegation
and made an introductory presentation on KISDI. KISDI President Lee expressed
his thanks to them for the successful completion of the "Vietnamese
e-Government Roadmap" project, which had been jointly carried out
by KISDI and the NIPTS last year. President Lee said that he hoped to
achieve synergy through various joint projects based on cooperative relations
with the NIPTS.
KISDI helps Vietnam effectively apply the outcome of the project in its
actual policy development by providing Vietnamese officials with an opportunity
to fully comprehend the roadmap through training programs.
KISDI has mobilized top-level experts to provide basic data and policy
directions to Vietnam for the " Vietnamese ICT Legislation Project."
KISDI plans to create a mid- and long-term roadmap including priority
setting in ICT policy and legislation for Vietnam by next April based
on Korea's experience in ICT policy development.
The Vietnamese ICT Legislation Project was the second joint project conducted
by KISDI and the NIPTS and laid the foundation for bilateral cooperation
in ICT research between Korea and Vietnam.
