The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Bae Kyoung-Yul) presented this year's ICT industry outlook at the policy forum of the Korea-America Economic Association (KAEA) held in Texas, USA on January 7 (local time). The presentation was titled "Medium and Long-term ICT Industry Outlook amid Changing Domestic and Global Conditions."
President Bae Kyoung-Yul stated, "In 2024, the production of Korea's ICT industry is expected to increase by 7.4% from the previous year to KRW 545.6 trillion, driven by high growth in semiconductors and SSDs. Exports of the ICT industry are projected to rise by 17.9% to US$220.5 billion due to increased global demand and price rises in semiconductors and SSDs."
At the forum, President Bae discussed the current global economic situation and prospects with KAEA President Chang Yoo-Soon, President-elect Jeong Kwang-Soo, and North American economists such as Hyejin Park (Université de Montréal), Ami Ko (Georgetown University), Alexandre Gaillard (Princeton University), Gueyon Kim (University of California-Santa Cruz), B. Douglas Bernheim (Stanford University), and Jeffrey Naecker (Google).
