The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Kwon Ho-yeol) will hold the 2020 Information and Communication Broadcasting and International Development Cooperation Forum under the theme of “new approaches to science and technology and ICT ODA statistics” online in the afternoon of December 22.

At a time when the importance of the utilization and convergence of ICT in international development cooperation is constantly being emphasized, it is necessary to revitalize the related discussions and research by adopting a new approach to ODA statistics in the field of science and technology and ICT. The forum is designed to lay the groundwork for the implementation of ODA projects to help researchers understand and conduct the projects.

The forum has been held annually since 2018 jointly by the ICT4D Research Subcommittee of the Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation (KAIDEC) and the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), which carries out the ODA projects of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Together with ODA project officials in the field of science and technology and ICT, the forum has promoted critical analysis and discussion of research in the field. In particular, this year's forum will focus on “ODA statistics in the field of science and technology and ICT” to gather opinions on new approaches.

In Session 1, a presentation titled “'ICT ODA Statistical Research Using Korea's ICT Integrated Classification System,” on the theme of new approaches to science and technology/ICT ODA statistics, will be delivered by the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), followed by “Establishment of the Science and Technology ODA Statistics System (Draft)” by the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP). In Session 2, the meaning of ODA statistical research in the field of science and technology and ICT and future tasks will be discussed during panel discussions.

The forum will be broadcast live online in full compliance with the government's quarantine regulations. Anyone who wishes to participate can pre-register, participate in the surveys, and leave questions and queries in advance at the KISDI website (http://www.kisdi.re.kr). The contents of the forum will be shared through KISDI’s YouTube Channel on the day of the event.
