KISDI made a presentation (‘Confronting COVID-19 with ICT and AI: The Case of Korea’) at a recent online webinar hosted by the World Bank.
At this webinar, titled ‘The Role of Digital Technologies in the Fight Against COVID-19; Early Lessons from the Frontline,’ KISDI Executive Director Ko Sang-won explained that South Korea was able to flatten the curve of COVID-19 infections thanks to the use of preemptive testing, transparent disclosure of the travel histories of infected people, and the distribution of masks to the general public. He added that information communication technologies and AI played important roles in all three policies.
This webinar was hosted by the World Bank for the purpose of drawing lessons from the ways in which different governments and businesses across the world have employed ICT in response to COVID-19. The presenters are as follows.
