Kim Hyun-soo, head of the Telecommunications & Spectrum Research Division of KISDI, was appointed as a member of the “3rd Internet Win-Win Development Council” officially launched by the Korea Communications Commission on Thursday, on July 23.

 

The Internet Win-Win Development Council was launched by the Korea Communications Commission to reinforce the user-centered Internet ecosystem and discuss future-oriented win-win strategies and development plans.

 

In order to cope with the rapidly expanding digital economy, the council plans to discuss policy items such as the need to “reinforce the user-centered internet ecosystem”, “improve the regulations to activate new services” and “promote win-win growth and development among large companies and SMEs”.

 

In particular, the 3rd Council plans to focus on “measures for reinforcing the user-centered ecosystem” so as to allow Internet users to transform themselves from simple consumers into agents of participation and innovation. More specifically, it discusses way of dealing with the damages caused by new types of services, strengthening user choice, protecting children and adolescents, and expanding digital inclusion.

 

The 3rd Council is composed of 31 members including 13 experts in ICT, management, economy, and law, 3 from consumer and civic groups, 9 from domestic and foreign internet and telecommunications companies, 3 from related organizations, 1 from research institutes, and 2 from government departments. Kim Hyun-soo, head of the Telecommunications & Spectrum Research Division of KISDI, will serve as a member from the research institutes.
