On May 21 (Tuesday) at 2pm, the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Kim Dae-hui) held a conference with a delegation from Brazil’s KSP Program in the video presentation room on the 2nd floor of the KISDI office in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do Province.

The conference was attended on the Brazilian side by Mr. Luciano Cunha de Sousa from the Ministry of Economics, Mr. Hamilton José Mendes da Silva from the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication, and nine other civil servants associated with the IT industry. Brazil is currently seeking ways to improve its IT industry R&D and innovation support system along with its system for monitoring the related industrial policies. The Brazil delegation visited South Korea in the hope of learning about our policy experience and know-how of the IT industry.

In the welcoming address, KISDI President Kim Dae-hui said he hoped that this training program would enhance understanding of the IT industry and the R&D policies of both countries. This was followed by a seminar delivered by Director Goh Sang-won of the Department of International Cooperation Research on the subject of the digital economy and the role of government, in which he described the experience of South Korea in developing and monitoring its IT industry and support (R&D) policies.

The delegation from Brazil said that the visit to KISDI was of great help to them in developing policies for the country’s IT industry and monitoring the industry, which are issues of great importance to them. They expressed the hope that through this conference, opportunities for cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand in the future.
