 Research Fellow Lee Jong-won from KISDI’s Department of Broadcasting & Media Research was awarded the Presidential Citation for his contributions to the development of IT.

On April 22, during a ceremony held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza to mark the ‘2019 Science and Information and Communication Day’, Research Fellow Lee Jong-won was awarded the Presidential Citation in recognition of his contributions to advancing the domestic broadcasting industry through the adoption of IPTV and UHD broadcasting, and to creating an environment for fair competition by reforming the regulatory system for pay TV (by laying the foundations for policies that consolidate the broadcast laws and IPTV laws).

Research Fellow Lee Jong-won ▲received his PhD in mass communication from Sogang University and ▲currently works at KISDI as the director of the Department of Broadcasting & Media Research. ▲Some of his most notable research works include ‘Research on Terrestrial UHD Broadcasting and Broadcast Frequency Policies for Advancing Broadcasting Services’, ‘Research On Improving Broadcasting Systems for Obtaining Technological Neutrality’, and ‘Research on Improving the Regulatory System for Pay TV Broadcasts’.

The 2019 Science and Information and Communication Day ceremony was held to commemorate the 52nd Science Day (April 21) and the 64th Information and Communication Day (April 22). The main objectives of organizing the ceremony were to raise the pride of science and information communication professionals by awarding individuals who have made significant contributions to the science & technology and information & communication sectors.
Also, at the ceremony, people get committed to pursue 5G+Strategy in order to generate innovative growth, bring about a human-centered 4th Industrial Revolution, and create a more inclusive society based on science and ICT.
