KISDI’s Telecommunications and Broadcasting Policy Consulting and Cooperation Project for Developing Countries has been selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT as a model case of an ICT funded project that has achieved outstanding results. It was introduced at the Performance Review and Project Presentation of Outstanding ICT Funded Projects, an event held at the Nuridream Square Business Tower on December 7.

The Ministry of Science and ICT set up two ICT funds (Broadcasting and Telecommunication Development Fund, Information Communication Promotion Fund) to promote the growth of ICT fusion businesses such as broadcasting/communication/information/contents, SW industry, IoT, Big Data, VR and AI. In 2016, too, 28 cases of projects that produced excellent results were chosen from among ICT-funded projects through a strictly impartial evaluation process.

During the period 2002~2016, KISDI operated the telecommunications and broadcasting policy consulting project for developing countries on a regular basis. They carried out 43 policy consulting projects for 27 nations and dispatched experts on 24 occasions.

Since 2015, KISDI has been participating in a telecommunications and broadcasting policy consulting project for developing countries through the ICT fund, one of whose major goals is to strengthen the construction of ICT ecosystems. To accomplish more significant results, it is pursuing collaborations with the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and ASEAN.

Senior researcher Lee Jong-hwa of KISDI remarked, "In the last four years, through the developing world policy consulting project, we have been able to persuade our counterpart countries to revise their ICT policies (including revising their laws). We have logged twenty such consulting successes so far. Our consulting services for developing countries have not only changed the awareness of the client country, but have actually been reflected back in their policy changes. So we do feel a real sense of accomplishment."
