The Korea Institute of Information and Communications Policy (KISDI) -- which provides policy consulting on information, communication, and broadcasting policy as the projects of the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) -- and Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation (KAIDEC), which engages in academic research and policy development in the field of international development and cooperation, jointly held the 2018 First Forum for Information, Communication, and Broadcasting and International Development and Cooperation under the theme of “ICT ODA Research Trend and Analysis” at the Korea Information Society Agency (NIA) office in Seoul on May 11.

In the new international development and cooperation environment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the information and communication technology (ICT) will not only be a catalyst for achieving each goal but is also the important technology itself. It is necessary to review critically and present the direction of implementation for each area. Both institutions agreed to carry out critical analysis and in-depth discussion on international ICT development and cooperation through the joint forums in 2018 and to intensify research on the development of ODA projects.

The first forum held on Friday, May 11 was the stage for the international ODA project executing agencies, research institutes, and experts from the private sector to review the trend of existing ICT ODA research and deduce future research programs.

A total of four forums are being planned by the end of this year. The second forum will be held on "ICT ODA Project Development Measures Part 1” at Kangwon National University in Chuncheon, Gangwon on June 8.
