In the government’s five-year national plan (announced in August this year), major national agenda items were set out toward becoming a top-3 AI power, including “spreading AI across industry & regions through building an AI highway,” “realizing an AI-based society for everyone,” and “achieving world-leading AI government.”

This special edition derives policy implications through in-depth analysis of six research themes across five fields: AI economy and industry, AI society and institutions, telecommunications and broadcasting, media, and international cooperation. It comprises six reports: The special edition consists of six reports: (1) Global AI competition strategy and response (full-stack perspective), (2) Fair competition and user policy directions in the AI and digital ecosystem, (3) Policy directions for realizing an inclusive AI-based society, (4) Key issues in advancing AI mobile communications infrastructure, (5) Strategies and policy tasks for the audiovisual media industry in the age of AI transformation, and (6) Trends in global AI governance discussions and Korea’s international AI cooperation strategy. The reports will be published sequentially throughout October.
President Rhee emphasized: “In order to generate tangible outcomes from the new government’s AI & digital national agenda, it is important to identify and pursue core detailed policy tasks.” He further stated: “Based on the research results from the six special-edition reports, KISDI plans to derive and announce at year-end the ‘core tasks that the government must pursue for the successful advancement of the AI & digital national agenda.’”
