International Conference on
“Green ICT: Challenges and Opportunities”
June 12, 2009
Seoul , Korea
Background and Objectives
Amid the global paradigm shifting to green, Korea declared “Low Carbon, Green Growth” in 2008 as a vision for the nation's future development. Recently, the nation announced the “Green New Deal Plan” which is to promote green growth as a major tool for an economic recovery. Taking the new global trend of “green wave” not as a risk, but as a golden opportunity, Korea , today, underscores information and communication technology (ICT) as a driving force for Low Carbon, Green Growth.
Against this background, we organize Conference, “Green ICT: Challenges and Opportunities” in order to provide the venue to identify the influence of ICT on the environment as well as to come up with ways for the sustainable development through ICT. The Conference is to look into the roles of ICT in achieving both economic growth and environmental protection at a time.
The Conference will bring enterprises, researchers, and policy~makers interested in Green ICT together by providing the venue to share and discuss information on the up~to~date trends in green economic growth and to identify challenges and opportunities of Green ICT. Through these efforts, the Conference promises to offer an invaluable opportunity to get nearer to the global green growth.
